Patrick Fullick |
Biography Patrick Fullick is a graduate of the University of Cambridge (the Natural Sciences Tripos, chemical physics). Joining the oil industry, he established expertise in the financial appraisal of large-scale gas projects in the Middle and Far East, building some of the company`s first computer models in this area. Two years later he was invited to join the staff of the University of Southampton, developing innovative physics and technology courses. Outside the University, Patrick ran a consultancy to industry, advising leading UK and international companies on investing in education. He was co-director of the highly-acclaimed Science, Education and Ethics project funded by the International Council of Scientific Unions, and joint editor of the book Teaching Ethical Aspects of Science. Patrick was one of the first researchers to take an interest in young people`s use of the Internet, a field in which he was awarded a Childnet International Prize in 1998 for his contributions to understanding online social communities of young people. He remains a member of the Learning Societies Laboratory of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. Leaving the university to found Science Connections in 2007, Patrick now works to bring together creative and inspirational people from Britain and Russia who share a passion for science and innovation, in whatever fields they can be found. Science Connections concentrates on developing understanding of innovation and business start-ups among scientific communities. |
