Gorky Rail, part of Russian Rail, report that they increased cargo loads to foreign countries by 20% in 2007 compared to 2006.
For exports petrol and petrol products saw the most substantial rise in railway trade (28%). Most notably the Netherlands and the US Virgin Islands increased orders of petrol by over 50% whilst petrol exports to Lithuania went up by a massive 7.5 times. Chemical exports also had a marked rise (10%).
Imports into Russia along Gorky Rail grow by 20% compared to last year. Chief import goods were: Cars from South Korea (twice as many imported), raw materials from Ukraine and cement from Turkey, the Netherlands and Ukraine.
