Federal Antimonopoly Service in Belgorod region has announced its decision to impose an unprecedented fine of $87m on national rail operator Russian Railways for violation of antimonopoly laws, Kommersant reports.
Russian Railways has reportedly refused to sign a contract with Belgorod region-based Vailuki correctional colony for transportation of chalk, extracted by prisoners, without 100% advance payment.
Russian Railways does not agree with the fine and the amount and intends to appeal FAS decision in the court, the paper said.
