A total of $220m is to be invested in construction of Baikalskaya Gavan (Baikal Haven) touristic special economic zone (SEZ) in the Republic of Buryatia, Kommersant reports.
Specifically, $83m is to be assigned from the federal budget on construction of infrastructure facilities, including water supply systems, utilities, roads and power lines.
Another $120m is hoped to be raised from private investors.
Among registered SEZ residents are Metropol, which wants to build a yacht-club, Techinvest-Baikal, a shipment transporting company, and Prometey-Mir, which intends to build a hotel complex on the left bank of the Tura river.
As Marchmont reported earlier, the 3,200-hectare Baikalskaya Gavan SEZ is to be located in the region’s Pribaikalsky district (see news of February 5, 2009).
The zone is to have five sites, two of them have already been designed and construction of infrastructure at them is scheduled to start this year.
