Russian developer of solution for visually impaired number three at global StartUp Cup

Oriense, a young Russian company offering visually impaired people a high-tech vision solution, joined the Top Three of the worlds best start-ups at international StartUp Cup, Venture Business News reported, citing StartUp Cup competition organizers.

The Russian developer pitched to the jury its tech vision system for the blind and visually impaired which offers a combination of navigation technologies and computer vision. According to Mikhail Demidov, a member of the jury and private Russian investor, Oriense, which was pronounced third, made a good presentation, showcased an operational prototype of its device, and has a realistic business model.

Earlier the Russian start-up raised an investment from TMT Investments, a VC fund.

In the final leg of the StartUp Cup held in Yerevan, in Armenia, seven finalist projects took part representing Pakistan, Egypt, Malaysia, Russia, the Philippines, Lebanon, and Ghana. An estimated 1,100 start-ups from 21 countries participated in the competition from its first leg.
