Vyatka State University to develop pectin gel-based biomaterials

A biomaterial project by the science and education center “Nanotechnologies” and department of biotechnologies of the Vyatka State University (VyatSU), Kirov region, has won a contest by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, news portal reports.
The project of developing new functional biomaterials from supramolecular complexes based on pectin gels has reportedly been carried out in close cooperation with the Institute of Physiology of the Republic of Komi of the science center of the Urals Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
As the winner, the university will receive a two-year federal finance of $115,000. The funds will reportedly be spent on innovation projects in biomedicine sector.
