Tatarstan eyes innovation city “Innopolis Kazan”

Innovation city “Innopolis Kazan” will be built in the Republic of Tatarstan, news agency REGNUM reports.

The project was reportedly designed by Singaporean company RSP Architects.

Under plans, the innovation city, located near Kazan, will have population of about 150,000 people.

The project is scheduled to be carried out in three stages, with each stage to create about 20,000 jobs. Under the project, the city will be inhabited by IT-specialists, engineers, their families, students of the IT-university, workers of malls, entertainment and leisure industry, and service sector.

Innopolis will have buildings from one to nine floors high, most of them will be three to seven floors high. The city will be kitted out with a business-incubator, research center, university, commercial center, and residential housing. The complex will reportedly provide good working and living conditions to specialists of large international IT-companies, foster training of qualified specialists in federal universities and innovative educational centers, attract IT-professionals from neighboring regions.

The IT-university, to be built in Innopolis Kazan, might have the US’ Carnegie Mellon University as a partner.

The project will be carried out in the form of private-public partnership in the next twenty years.
