Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan has approved a program to implement satellite navigation technologies GLONASS for 2012-2015, ComNews reports.

The program finance will reportedly total $48m, including $14m from the regional budget.

Under the program, the authorities will create navigation-information infrastructure of Bashkiria, including the regional navigation-information center with the single multifunctional navigation platform of the republic, that will enable management of the regional transport vehicles, as well as special transport in crisis situation.

Under the first stage of the program GLONASS technology-based navigation systems will be installed in public urban and municipal transport in the city of Ufa, the regional navigation center will be set up in the Republic of Bashkortostan government and administration of the president.

Under plans, by 2015 at least 80% of transport vehicles, transporting passengers and heavy, large, dangerous cargos, agricultural machinery machine-technological stations, and special transport vehicles, will be equipped with GLONASS system. Transport vehicles will transmit telematic data into the regional navigation and information system. As a result navigation-information systems of monitoring Bashkirian transport will be created.

The authorities also intend to create efficient system of highly-accurate positioning within the territory of Bashkiria based on GLONASS system.

“Creation of navigation-information infrastructure in the Republic of Bashkortostan will support development of transport complex of the region, enable to introduce more efficient methods of managing sectors of economy and increase public safety, quality of passenger transportation and grow number of jobs,” Andrey Bykovsky, the deputy chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Bashkortostan on Transport and Roads, said.
