The national communication operator Rostelecom is launching the IP video monitoring in test mode in Nizhny Novgorod region, the website of the Commission on Modernization and Technological Development of the Economy of Russia i-russia.ru reports.

Testing of IP video monitoring has reportedly started on December 1, with 46 video cameras installed in the most populous places, transport junctions, administrative and residential buildings in the cities of Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Arzamas, Bor, Sarov and other towns of Nizhny Novgorod region. The first contracts for commercial use of the service are expected to be signed by the end of 2011.

IP video monitoring is a high technology instrument for controlling objects and territories, that helps to solve a number of issues, related to safety provision and efficiency of various processes in private and business-sectors. Besides, the video monitoring services can be of interest to property management companies, as well as residents of private houses and apartment blocks for monitoring their property and children playgrounds, car parking, yard territories.

The video cameras support the PnP (Plug and Play) mode and can be connected to the data transportation channel or Internet. All information from the cameras is sent to the central server, where it is recorded to the video archive. Access to the video archive and live video can be delivered distantly via Internet to anywhere in the world.

The IP video monitoring service users will be able to review images from video cameras in real time through usual and VPN Internet-channels, store recorded information, review data recorded in the certain period of time (also recorded from several video cameras at the same time). The data can also be reviewed through mobiles, supporting operation systems Android, Symbian, Apple IOS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry.
