Plug and Play Russia selects first five residents

Plug and Play Russia, the Russian representative office of the US business-incubator Plug and Play, has selected the first five residents, innovation and venture news site UNOVA reports.

The judges of the contest, headed by Saeed Amidi, the founder and CEO of one of the most famous and successful business-incubators in the Silicon Valley Plug and Play TechCenter, chose five projects out of ten, that will become the first participants of the technological business-incubator in Russia.

The startups demonstrated their projects in ten-minute presentations in English language.

The Plug and Play Russia residency certificates were given to the authors of the following projects: Toytemic – the project “Strategy on the Pad: Devices and Methods to Bring Computer Games into the Real World”; Vite Me – the network service, connecting friends with one button; Shop Points – a web-platform for retailers; Family Suite – the internet-service for elderly citizens; Mtel – the virtual office project.

The Plug and Play Russia residents will be able to enjoy such benefits as the access to over 2,000 startups in the Silicon Valley and Europe, venture capital of the USA and Europe (over 180 venture firms), corporate partnerships (over 100 companies, including insurance and legal firms) and the wide customer database.

The event also included a discussion on the topic “Russian Startup-Community: Success Stories”, with participation of such known entrepreneurs and investors, as Sergey Belousov, the head of the company Parallels, Ivan Nechayev, the CEO of “The Russian Navigation Tchnologies”, David Yang, the chairman of the board of ABBYY.
