Rosatom to invest $1.3bn in Dimitrovgrad innovation park

State corporation Rosatom intends to invest over $1.3bn in creation of an innovation park in the city of Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, news agency RIA Novosti reports.

Among the park’s anchor projects are a $440m Nuclear Medicine Center (see Marchmont news of September 1, 2008), $500m multi-purpose research reactor, a plant to produce radiopharmaceutical products and other facilities.

Under the project, Dimitrovgrad is to become a center of the project to create new technological platform to form reactors, based on fast neutrons.

The innovation park is reportedly to include key research facilities, including a public research center to host scientists from France, Germany, Sweden, Japan, USA, India, China.

The Nuclear Medicine Center is scheduled to be put into commission in 2013. Other facilities in the innovation park are scheduled to be put into commission within the next ten years.
