Russian robot lectures at college in U.S.

5 Oct '21
Robot Promobot V. 4 from the Russian developer - Skolkovo resident held the first lectures on service robotics at the American Community College in Rowan Cabarrus (North Carolina). This is the first experience of cooperation between the company and American secondary specialized educational institutions, Oleg Kivokurtsev, the development director of the company that manufactures the robot Promobot, told TASS.
For Promobot, this is the first experience of cooperation with secondary specialized educational institutions from the United States. The project started back in 2020, but due to the pandemic, the implementation of the robot had to be postponed indefinitely. In view of the lifting of restrictions in the state of North Carolina, the management of the institution decided to resume classes and connect a robot to them, Oleg said.
College students will be able to study programming, electronics and mechatronics in English. The creators of the robot explain that the projects that students will develop will go directly to the laboratory to the developers.

Any successful decision can appear in a robot, say, in the national bank of Oman (the company has a contract with it), added Kivokurtsev. To do this, students learn to operate a robot, work with a face recognition system, scenarios for communication between humans and robots, as well as human-machine interaction.

The Promobot company was founded in 2015 and has been a Skolkovo resident since the same year. It is currently the largest manufacturer of autonomous service robots in Europe. They work in over 40 countries as administrators, promoters, consultants, guides and concierges.
