Sverdlovsk region eyes nano-industry cluster by 2015

Authorities in Sverdlovsk region have announced plans to form a nano-industry science and production cluster.

The cluster is reportedly to consist of 16 nano-industry production complexes with total production volumes worth over $360m.

Under plans, the cluster is to include about 45 companies, including such giants as Uralvagonzavod, Russian Megnesium, Kirovgrad Hard Alloys Plant, Urals Optics and Mechanical Plant, as well as six institutes of the Urals branch of the Russian Academy of Science, and four universities, including the Urals State Economics University, the Urals Medical Academy, the Urals State Timber University.

The project is scheduled to be carried out by 2015.
