Adygeya wants $2.6m for Olympics information system

Authorities in the Republic of Adygeya are looking for $2.6m investment to create an information system Olympics Sochi – Krasnaya Polyana, regional officials report.

The project was reportedly prepared by a group of programmers at the lab of intellectual and geoinformation technologies in Adygeya State University.

Under the project, the funds are to be used to create an electronic realistic model Olympics Sochi – Krasnaya Polyana with 3D images of Olympics facilities, transport and tourism infrastructure in Sochi, based on high-dimension photo shots from the space.

The system is to be equipped with a 2D-navigator with GPS positioning technologies and will provide search of facilities, buildings, routes and other information, officials said.

The project will be presented at the 8th International Investment Forum Sochi-2009 to take place on September 17-20.
