Russian software for transport planning works in Belarus

12 Jan '22
Simetra, the Russian competence center for traffic modeling and traffic planning, has equipped the Belarusian company Minskgrado with the PTV Visum software solution for traffic planning.

Design Institute Minskgrado has been dealing with urban planning problems since 1996. In the course of work, company employees are often faced with the need to create transport models. Previously, the forecasting of the work of individual and passenger transport was carried out on the basis of the programs of the Belarusian development Calculation of traffic intensity and Automated calculation of passenger flows. Taking into account the current trends in the development of transport modeling programs, the company's management decided to switch to the use of PTV products.
“Development of a transport model of Minsk is one of our key tasks, along with work on the concept and justifications for urban planning,” said Vladimir Prishchepov, head of the Minskgrado road network and transport department. “We expect that the PTV Visum software solution will allow us to more effectively calculate the effect of the implementation of certain urban planning solutions and argue their effectiveness in the process of preparing transport planning documents.”
PTV Visum software solutions will be used by Minskgrad specialists for the first time, therefore the partnership implies not only the supply of licenses, but also training of employees to work with a new complex of programs.
“We are pleased to expand the geography of our supplies and help improve the quality and detail of transport planning at the international level: we are actively working not only in Russia and Belarus, but also in other regions, for example, with partners from India”, - said Christian Boettger, director of global sales at Simetra.
Minskgrado is a design and research company. The organization implements urban planning policy for the development of the city of Minsk and the Minsk region. The company employs over 100 specialists.
