Skolkovo resident helps improve occupational safety

8 Apr '20
Vizitech, a resident of the Information Technology Cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation, is implementing a project to automate high-risk operations for NLMK Group, an international steel company. This is one of the first such projects in the metallurgical industry of Russia.

The intelligent modular system Integrated Work Safety Management System (ISBI) of the company Visitech allows for the digital transformation of business processes in the field of labor protection. This increases efficiency and reduces the risk of accidents, ensures the safety of life and health of employees.

The joint working group was able to customize the Vizitek product to the needs of NLMK and deploy it at the production site in Lipetsk. The results of the pilot project are recognized as successful. Now requirements for scaling the system are being formed.
Rustam Milanov, General Director of Vizitek: “Efficiency of industrial safety process management and labor protection are the main requirements for hazardous production facilities in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The capabilities and functionality of the ISBIS system are highly appreciated among enterprises with increased production risk and facilities of increased danger in the oil and gas, metallurgical, fuel and energy, chemical and other industries.”

Pavel Zakharov, director of labor protection and industrial safety of NLMK Group: “Safe production is an absolute priority for our company. We focus resources and attention on technologies, including digital, that help achieve the goal of zero injuries. We made a decision to cooperate with a resident of the Skolkovo Foundation, the company Vizitech, as this company has successful experience in introducing electronic work permit-using mobile devices and experience in deploying a risk management system for labor protection and industrial safety.”
The key goals of cooperation between Vizitek and NLMK are:
• optimization of the process of creation and coordination of work of increased danger due to its automation and avoidance of paperwork;
• risk reduction due to the use of automated risk analysis algorithms, risk reduction measures and evaluation of conflict operations;
• increasing the level of control due to greater manageability and the ability to quickly monitor the status of work performed.

On the Lipetsk site of the NLMK Group, more than 100 thousand work permits are issued annually. Representatives of Vizitech conducted five trainings for 92 employees in the hot-rolled shop. The trainings were held in a format as close as possible to the actual conditions for the formation of the work permit, with representatives of the workshop’s technological specialists, repair personnel, and employees of the repair and construction contractor.
Dmitry Starikov, project manager of the Skolkovo Foundation’s Information Technology Cluster: “Vizitech fully shares the principles of the Visionzero global movement (achieving zero injuries in practice), dedicated to safety, occupational health and well-being, and is his partner. I consider the cooperation between NLMK and Vizitech to be promising. There is a lot of work to be done, but it's worth it. According to studies on the profitability of investments in prevention and labor protection, every dollar invested can create a profit in the form of a positive economic effect of more than two dollars. ”
