31 Jan '12
The Metrological Center of RUSNANO has opened a testing laboratory at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in the town of Dolgoprudny, Moscow region, RUSNANO reports.

The opening ceremony was attended by Andrey Svinarenko, the general director of the Fund of Infrastructure and Educational Programs of RUSNANO; Nikolay Kudryavtsev, the rector of the MIPT; Victor Ivanov, the general director of the Metrological Center of RUSNANO; and representatives of project companies of RUSNANO.

The new laboratory will specialize in measuring space and structure pararmeters of nano-sized components of wide spectrum of products, such as nano-powder, suspensions, aerosols, porous materials, coatings, film structures, volume materials (specifically, composites based on ceramics, polymers and metals).

The laboratory will work in several directions: measuring parameters and testing products, needed for certification of nano-products and forming new standards; development of measurement methods, needed for application in nano-industry; creation of standard samples of composition and features of nano-materials.

Under plans, the laboratory will provide services to RUSNANO’s project companies, as well as independent producers of nano-products.

“Our laboratory can be called one of the most modern institutions in the sector of metrology of nano-industry in Russia for a number of reasons. Firstly, the lab is equipped with the most modern equipment that allows to make measurements of space and structural parameters of almost all kinds of products. Secondly, we will have unique specialists, including those from the MIPT. Already now we are actively choosing talented students and postgraduate students for internships and joint projects with expert team of the Metrological Center of RUSNANO. Besides, the lab’s compliance with modern management standards has been confirmed by the certificate, given by the Association of Analytical Centers “Analytica”, the international body for certifying labs.”
