Fast Lane Ventures to launch RentHome.ru
1 Nov '11
Russian company Fast Lane Ventures intends to launch a new resource RentHome.ru that helps to find housing without real estate agents, news agency reports.
To date, a total of $500,000 has been invested into the company. Under plans, Fast Lane intends to raise up to $3m for this project.
Under the project, the service is to accumulate offers on medium-term housing rent.
The company states that its competitive advantage is in the thorough analysis of ads relevancy. Majority of resources on renting real estate is full of ads from real estate agencies, imitating ads from home owners. “We will work on the quality of advertisement. Thus, most of raised investment will be spent on organization of the moderating structure that will include working with home owners via Internet, as well as actual field work, examining an apartment and checking data,” Tatyana Tsvetkova, the director of development of Fast Lane Ventures, said.
Pavel Nikonov, the senior investment manager of ABRT, believes that the new Russian service is very similar to the US project AirBnB that has already raised some investment from Yury Milner’s DST Global fund. “The startup has good potential in Russia. However, the national analogue of AirBnB may face some problems. The future investors might be wary of non-transparency of the real estate market in Russia. Besides, the company spends heavily in order to eliminate false ads,” the expert said.
