Belgorod region launches $685m nano-industry program

26 Jan '10
Authorities in Belgorod region have approved a $685m nano-industry development program to run in the region over 2010-2014, Kommersant reports.

The authorities expect to raise half of the funding – over $335m – from state corporation Rusnano. The remaining funds are reportedly to be loaned from commercial banks and raised from other sources, officials said.

The program reportedly includes projects in production of steel and metal products, machinery and equipment, non-metal mineral goods, as well as in medicine and medical equipment manufacturing, agriculture and construction.

For example, one of the projects is a $50m JV by Rusnano and local plant Vladmiva to produce biologically biocompatible implant materials.
