Mega-Don to open $6m supermarkets in Rostov region

Rostov region retailer Mega-Don has announced plans to open three supermarkets under a new brand in Rostov region.

Investment in the project has yet to be disclosed, but is estimated by experts at $6m.

The company is reportedly currently working on brand development for the three stores.

Under plans, the first two stores are to open in the companys own malls on Tolstoy Street and Severny residential complex in Rostov-on-Don, while space for the third store is to be rented at a mall outside the town of Novocherkassk.

The 1,700-square-meter supermarket on Tolstoy Street is scheduled for opening in August. The 2,000-square-meter supermarket in Severny complex and 1,700-square-meter store in Novocherkassk are sue to open in Q3-Q4 2009, the firm said.

Mega-Don currently manages 72 stores under Imperiya Productov (Grocery Empire) in Rostov region.
