Auchan opens $17m hypermarket in Omsk

French retailer Auchan has opened a $17m hypermarket in Omsk, Interfax reports.

The 15,000-square-meter hypermarket is reportedly one of the largest in the city.

The store is the chains 35th hypermarket in Russia. Under plans, by the end of the year Auchan is to open five more hypermarkets in Russia three in Moscow, one in Kaluga and one in Penza. In 2010 six Auchans are to open in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Kazan and Ufa.
