Date Confirmed for Opening of the Chelyabinsk Metro

21 Nov '07
A underground system is being rapidly built in Chelyabinsk, the first branch of which will already be running in 2012. The tunnelling system will come to ground-level in the region of the underground station Komsomolskiy Square, which is yet to be built. The route will then follow on to the centre of the city and to Revolution Square. Specialists affirm that the track itself ought to be completed within one and a half years.

It was in a conference attended by the governor of the oblast, Peter Sumin, and the president of Lovat Inc (a Canadian company), Ric Lovat, that the decision was taken for Lovat Inc to obtain its second tunnelling system.
