VMZ gets $336m contract to supply pipes for Nord Stream project

In March, OAO Vyksa Metallurgic Works (VMZ), part of the United Metallurgic Company, plans to start supplying its 1,220 millimeter pipes for the underwater part of the Nord Stream pipeline. The contract’s value is estimated in the region of $367m.

The supply volume is expected to reach 260,000 tons before the end of 2009.

VMZ will produce 25% of the whole pipeline. The rest, 820,000 tons of pipe, will be produced by German firm Europipe.
