Dutch companies invited to chop Tomsk trees

17 Dec '07
The governor of the Tomsk region Victor Kress has offered an invitation to Dutch businesses to work on the natural resources in the region. Kress announced this during a presentation in America promoting economic potential in the region, the press service Itar-Tass reported.

Kress pointed out that the Tomsk region has important resources for railways, since it contains 57% of Russias supply of iron ore. given the size of the ore deposits we are able to invite any company to come and make the most of it, the governor of the region declared.

Kress also made the Dutch businessmen aware that the region has a lack of investment in timber, saw mills and tree nurseries, stinting the potential output. He said that in a year the region could work through timber in up to 97 million cubic metres of wooded areas without significant ecological damage.
