Rosatom backs new nuclear plant in Tomsk Region

Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom), has backed the Tomsk Region nuclear power plant project, the first Vice Governor Sergei Tochilin reported.

Last week the Tomsk Region Governor Victor Kress and the first Vice Governor Sergei Tochilin met in Moscow with Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko to discuss the issue, a regional administration spokesman said.

“In the course of the meeting, the Governor and the first Vice Governor were assured that Rosatom is ready to support the plan of nuclear power plant construction in the territory of the region,” the spokesman pointed out.
