Diamond producer ALROSA has paid $76m to acquire the diamond deposits of Ruchei Gusiny, Ebelyakh and Dalnyaya in the Republic of Yakutia, the firm said.

Aggregate diamond reserves for these three deposits are reportedly estimated to be around 42 million carats.

ALROSA said it had won a government tender for the deposits in late 2010.

ALROSA is a world leader in the sector, accounting for 25% of global diamond production. Last year the firm said it had sales of $3.48bn, up 1.6 times y/y.
