Kamchatka authorities and companies have $230+m plans for regional geological survey over the next three years, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the regional government.
Under plans, surveys are expected to boost gas reserves forecasts by 10 billion cu. m; gold reserves by 150 tons; and platinum reserves by 25 tons.
If results are fitted in with the prognoses, the total worth of newly explored resources will be more than $6.7bn.
At the moment, Kamchatka’s hydrocarbon reserves are reportedly estimated to be around 150 million tons of oil and 800 billion cu. m of natural gas. Explored gold reserves are 150 tons; platinum reserves around 900 kilograms.
