RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has announced plans for new civilian shipbuilding to be launched on the premises of company Zvezda in Primorsky Region’s town of Bolshoi Kamen.
A new production line, to predominantly manufacture tankers, will be launched in collaboration with international partners, Mr. Putin said. He hasn’t named the partners, though.
Vladimir Putin has pledged up to $400m in investment to that end.
According to the prime minister, the new-generation Big Dipper semisubmersible drilling platform will be built there to operate at northern seas and in Russia’s Far East at up to 2km sea depths. The depth of drilling, nonmetering a sea depth, may reportedly be up to 7km.
The platform is scheduled for completion by 2014, the prime minister said.
