Polyus Zoloto to invest $11m in exploration in Irkutsk region

Gold mining company Polyus Zoloto has announced plans to invest over $11m in geological exploration at its deposits in Irkutsk region in 2009.

Most of the funds are reportedly to be invested in Verninskoye and Chertovo Koryto deposits.

In 2006-2008 the company invested a total of over $21m in geological exploration, and, as a result, grew its reserves by 77 tons of gold, the firm said.
