Petropavlovsk’s $1.9bn metallurgical project aired

Metallurgical holding Petropavlovsk has started construction of the $1.9bn Kimkano-Sutarsky ore mining and processing project in Evreiskaya Autonomous Region, the firm said today.

According to Pavel Maslovsky, the chairman of the company board, the prospective factory will be shipping its products both domestically and to China.

The firm will reportedly start construction of a plating shop next year; beaded iron will be produced there, beginning 2014, the company said.

Kimkano-Sutarsky’s projected capacity is a reported 4.2 million tons of iron ore concentrate and 2.5 million tons of beaded iron a year.
