$84.5m Stadco JV to make bodies for Ford and GM

British Stadco and Spanish Gestamp Automocion officially opened today its $84.5m Stadco car body making JV in Leningrad Region, Interfax reported today.

Marchmont earlier reported the plant opening plans (click here, April 9, 2009), but it wasnt until today that the investors announced the project value.

In addition, some new data was made public.

The JV is located in the Kirpichny Zavod (Brick Plant) industrial area outside the town of Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Region.

According to Gestamp Automocion CEO Francisco Riberas, the plant will first set about churning out pressed parts for the Ford factory in Vsevolozhsk and then start manufacturing Delta platforms for St. Petersburgs GM plant beginning 2010.
