Novgorod to produce aspen chips based bricks

30 Nov '12
The Novgorod region, some 330 miles north-west of Moscow, wants to launch an innovation construction material factory in 2014 to produce, among other things, new aspen chips based bricks with special cement, news agency Alliance Media reports citing a source in the federal Ministry of Regional Development.

The new bricks are said to possess low heat conductance and bulk density properties and can therefore be used to build walls and ceilings, or as a filler and warmth-keeping material.

The future factory will be reportedly located in Pestovo, a single-industry town in the Novgorod region.

In addition, the region is considering creating an integrated industrial and logistics zone in the Chudovo municipal district. If approved, the zone will have a new cement factory using a dry production technique to make M-400 Portland cement with a capacity of 2.1 million tons a year.
