Aircraft engine manufacturers association United Engine-Building Corporation (ODK) intends to build a $91.5m aluminum and titanium castings technological competence center at its Ufa Engine Industrial Association (UMPO), news source AviaPORT reports.
Under plans, the center is to satisfy needs of ODK and defense industry group Oboronprom for aluminum and titanium castings.
The center is scheduled to start operation in 2016.
According to the new source, UMPO is equipped with necessary industrial and other premises to host the center. Specifically, the plant has launched specialist training programs in partnership with the Ufa State Aviation Technical University.
Creation of technology competence centers (TCC) lies within ODK’s development strategy. The goal of such centers is formation of profitable production complexes, specialized under technological factor, for provision of ODK needs as well as side orders.
For example, in early April 2011 the ODK’s TCC for production preparation has been launched at the group’s Saturn – Instrumental Plant.
