Oboronprom’s $127m engine R&D and production aired

26 Jan '10
Russia’s military-industrial holding, Oboronprom, has announced $127m plans to create an R&D and production complex in St. Petersburg.

The new project will be reportedly realized on the premises of one of Oboronprom’s subsidiaries, OAO Klimov.

The project calls for the setting-up of a “new-generation aircraft engine design bureau,” the company says, to shorten R&D time for each new item from today’s 8-10 to 3-4 years, and preparation for its serial production from four to two years.
