Vertex to build $60m pharmaceutical plant in St. Petersburg

9 Jun '12
Pharmaceutical company Vertex has unveiled plans to build a full-cycle pharmaceutical plant in St. Petersburg, news agency RIA Novosti reports.

Investment in the project is estimated at over $60m.

The 30,000-square-meter complex will reportedly be built on a 4.85-hectare land site in the Novoorlovskaya special economic zone (SEZ).

Construction is scheduled to start in 2013 and will be carried out in two stages with launches in H2 2014 and 2016.

The complex’s projected annual capacity is to top 100 million packs of various medicines, including generics and parapharmaceuticals. The plant is expected to create 700 new jobs. Under plans, the building will have several blocks: main production, parapharmaceutical production, hormone medicine production, administrative-lab complex, warehouse, and engineering block.
