Nakhodka Ship Repairs in Primorsky Region will manufacture to order from Norway’s Aker Solutions ballasting system components for a Sakhalin-1 oil derrick currently being built, the Nakhodka company announced today.

The deal’s value has yet to be disclosed.

The derrick for the Sakhalin-1 international hydrocarbon project is reportedly being built on the Arkutun-Dagi oil and gas field 25 km off Sakhalin’s north-east coast.

According to the customer, Aker Solutions, special steel with 6% of molybdenum will be used in the metal structures.

Sakhalin-1’s potential recoverable resources are estimated to be around 307 million tons of oil and 485 billion cu. m of natural gas.
