Japanese business eyes Russias Far East

A 70-strong delegation of top managers of Japanese production and investment companies, as well as leading banks, are in Primorsky and Khabarovsk regions of Russias Far East between May 31 and June 6 for business talks with Russian colleagues, a source in the Far East Chamber of Commerce reported earlier today.

According to the source, delegates plan to familiarize themselves with the areas large investment projects and their possible involvement in them. They are also interested in progress the city of Vladivostok has made preparing for the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held there in 2012, the report said.

The delegation reportedly includes such firms as Itochu, Sumitomo, Mitsui, Marubeni, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and others.
