Vladivostok awaits $235m to prettify itself

20 Apr '09
Vladivostok is seeking $235m from Primorsky regional and RF coffers for large-scale municipal improvements, the city administration said today.

Work envisaged reportedly includes restoration of the city center and major upgrades of transport infrastructure.

Reconstruction of Vladivostok roads is one of the main goals for the project, city officials said.

The amount the city is seeking tops its entire 2009 budget expenditure projections by $29m, the officials added.

The funds are most likely to be earmarked to support Vladivostoks preparations for the APEC summit the city will host in 2012.
