Google plans to launch its Google Startup Launch program in Russia, reported East-West Digital News, the first international information company dedicated to Russian digital industries.
This international program is not time-limited and is focused on start-ups at their early stages of development. Start-ups that end up in Google Startup Launch will participate in technological, product and marketing training seminars. In addition, they will receive support from specially selected mentors.
In April, a three-day educational event called Google Startup Launchpad is planned in St. Petersburg, and a similar five-day event in Moscow is scheduled. Events will be held in conjunction with business incubator Ingria and start-up accelerator MetaBeta.
Two months ago, Google’s decision to move a part of its Russian engineering team from its Moscow office to other locations triggered speculation about the US firm’s strategy in Russia. Google’s last move with the Startup Launch program appears to be now sending a clear signal that the firm is committed to continuing its business in this country.
