Sakhalin has approved a regional program aimed at easing tension at the local labor market, to be in effect between 2010 and 2012, RIA Sakhalin-Kurily reports.
In addition to stimulating employment the program is reportedly designed to help curb illegal migration and discourage "shadow" employment.
According to regional officials, the program aims at employing 70,300 people between 2010 and 2012.
The program is expected to receive $21.7m from federal and regional coffers, the officials said.
