$11m sturgeon breeding to be launched in December

A second stage of the Anyuisky fish-farm in Khabarovsk Region, aimed at sturgeon-breeding, is to be launched in December, Khabarovsk regional officials announced today.

The cost of construction as of today is a reported $11m.

According to the officials, annual plans are to breed up to one million newly-hatched sturgeons and kalugas an ancient Siberian sturgeon found only in the Amur River.

The Anyuisky fish-farms first stage was launched in 2000 and has been breeding salmon.
