RusHydro and Alstom to build $1.35bn power equipment plant in Ufa

National hydro power operator RusHydro and French hydro power equipment manufacturer Alstom Hydro intend to build a $1.35bn plant to produce equipment for small hydro power stations in the city of Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, news agency RIA Novosti reports.

The companies are reportedly to invest in the project on a 50/50 basis.

Under plans, the plant is to initially produce turbines with power capacity of 0.1 to 25 MW. On the second project stage the plant is to manufacture turbines with power capacity of up to 60 MW.

In the future the plant is also to launch production of equipment for medium hydro power stations with capacity of up to 100 MW, as well as hydro accumulation stations with capacity of up to 150 MW, the news agency said.

Timeframes for the project have yet to be disclosed.
