RusHydro and Alstom to build $665m hydro energy equipment plant

National hydro power operator RusHydro and Frances Alstom Holdings intend to set up a JV to build a $665m plant to produce energy equipment for hydro power stations in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Kommersant reports.

The plant, to be located in the regions Ufa district, is reportedly to create about 500 local jobs.

Under plans, the plants products are to be used to build and overhaul hydrotechnical facilities in Russia, specifically, Bashkiria, Krasnodar region, the Volga-Kama river basin, as well as abroad.

Construction is scheduled to start in 2011, further timeframes for the project have yet to be disclosed.
