Sakhalin expects about $15m from federal coffers this year to fund its housing overhaul and relocation program, regional officials said.

Under plans, six municipalities will receive the funds to that end.

Between 2008 and 2009 the region received a total of $17.8m from the RF’s Public Utilities Fund; 155 houses have been overhauled and 12,685 people have moved to better houses and apartments as a result of that.
