The launch of the Kashkhatau hydroelectric power station of the $47.7m Nizhne-Cherek cascade in Kabardino-Balkaria is set for 2010, Kabardino-Balkaria regional officials announced today.
The Nizhne-Cherek cascade will reportedly have the aggregate installed capacity of 128MW and produce an average of 450-500 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year.
As of July 1, 2009 Russia’s largest generating company, RusHydro, invested in the cascade $24.8m, the report said.
