Between March and October national energy exporter Inter RAO UES sold 523 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to China, reported East Energy, Inter RAO UES’ exporting arm in Russia’s Far East.
Trade is reportedly being done under a February 2009, $18bn agreement between the Russian electricity exporter and China’s State Grid Corporation (SGC) on energy sales from Amur Region.
According to East Energy, the company sold $14.4m worth of electricity from March through August. September financials have yet to be announced.
Inter RAO UES reportedly expects to boost annual sales to China to 60 billion kilowatt-hours by 2020.
