The Far East Energy Managing Company DVEUK intends to create a cluster of smart electricity grid on the Russky Island in Vladivostok, Primorsky region, news agency Cleandex reports citing a source in the company.

The plans were announced at the 5th Pacific Economic Congress meeting on the topic “Far East Energy: Future Vision”.

Requirements to modern infrastructure and energy security have become one of the issues at the congress. An appropriate solution is seen in the Smart Grid technology that is applied in construction of electricity grid of new generation. DVEUK is currently managing such innovative project. The company has started forming a cluster of Smart Electricity Grid at the Russky Island, following the order of the RF Government.

According to Aleksander Fokin, the head of the investment planning service of DVEUK, under the first project, carried out jointly with national grid operator FSK UES, the company is to implement complex energy resources metering and managing systems at the generation sources on the island. The island is then to perform functions of the station for dispatcher management of the smart grid cluster. Applying the Smart Grid technology would result in higher energy supply security, efficient grid operation, energy effectiveness on the whole.

In the future this technological solution is to be used under the program of renovation of distribution grids of the Far East federal district. According to the specialist, complex integration of advanced technologies in the sectors of energy metering and electricity grid management results in lower energy losses in grids of all voltages by 25%.

The 5th Pacific Economic Congress was held in the Primorsky region on September 9-10, 2011. Annually this event gathers together representatives of business, scientific circles and governmental structures of the Asian-Pacific region.
