Pipes under river Lena for VSTO pipeline

The firm building the East Siberia Pacific (VSTO) long-range oil pipeline have started erecting a pipe subway under the bed of the river Lena, it was reported today.

Center Upravleniya Proectom VSTO (VSTO Project Management Center) said it was using 29mm-thick pipes, 15% more resistent to water pressure damage.

In total the pipeline is planned to be 4,600km in length.
