Saratov Hydro completes first stage $39.3m revamp

The Saratov hydroelectric power station has completed the first stage of its $39.3m power equipment upgrade program, the company reported today.

New, more reliable and safe transformers manufactured by Togliattinsky Transformator have been installed.

By the year-end the Saratov hydr oelectric power station is to install several more transformers made by Sweden's ABB Power Technologies, the firm added.

The Saratov hydroelectric power station, one of Europe's 10 largest stations of its kind, is a division of RusHydro, the world's second largest hydro-generating company by capacity, which runs more than 50 stations.
