Telecom operator Scartel, working under Yota brand, intends to launch LTE-standard mobile network in Kazan by the end of the year, which is a new standard in Russia, Kommersant reports.

Investment in the project has yet to be disclosed, but is estimated by experts at $30-$40m.

Under plans, in August the company is to launch 40 LTE base stations, and by the end of the year the stations number is to reach 200.

LTE standard will initially be used to access Internet. Yota SIM-cards for mobile usage will be available for purchase in mid-2011, when the first LTE-standard mobile phones will appear in Russia.
